Android Auto problems concentrate in three places: the USB cable, app permissions/updates, and the car's head-unit pairing memory. Work through them in order.
- 1Use a high-quality data cable (many charge-only cables can't carry Auto), plugged into the car's designated Auto USB port.
- 2Update: Android Auto, Google app, Google Maps, and the phone system.
- 3Phone: Settings → Apps → Android Auto → clear cache; check all permissions granted.
- 4Car side: delete the phone from the head unit's paired/authorized list and connect fresh.
- 5Wireless Auto: needs 5 GHz Wi-Fi support in the car and phone; toggle Bluetooth+Wi-Fi off/on.
- 6Try another cable and another phone to isolate phone vs. car.
Tip: After any car software update, re-authorize the phone, old sessions commonly break silently.
