Every Android phone signed into a Google account can be located for free with Find My Device. If your phone was just lost or stolen, act quickly: location only works while the device is on and online.

  1. 1On any browser, open android.com/find and sign in with the same Google account used on the phone.
  2. 2Pick the lost device from the top list. The map shows its last known location.
  3. 3Tap 'Play sound' to make it ring at full volume for 5 minutes, even in silent mode.
  4. 4Tap 'Secure device' to lock the screen and show a contact message for whoever finds it.
  5. 5If recovery is impossible, choose 'Erase device' to wipe your data. This is irreversible and stops further tracking.

Tip: For the future, keep Location and 'Find My Device' enabled in Settings → Security, and note your IMEI (dial *#06#), carriers can block a stolen phone by IMEI.
