There are two different things people call 'casting': sending a video stream (Cast, best quality) and mirroring your whole screen (works with anything). Your TV decides which paths exist.

  1. 1In-app Cast (best): open YouTube/Netflix → tap the Cast icon → pick the TV (needs Chromecast/Android TV/Google TV on same Wi-Fi).
  2. 2Full-screen mirroring: Quick Settings → 'Screen cast' / 'Smart View' → choose the TV.
  3. 3Miracast TVs (many Samsung/LG): use the TV's Screen Share/Miracast mode with the phone's mirroring tile.
  4. 4Wired: USB-C to HDMI cable, but only phones with DisplayPort-alt-mode support video out (many midrangers don't).
  5. 5No smart TV at all? A Chromecast/Fire TV stick in the HDMI port adds casting for cheap.

Tip: Casting stutters? Both devices on 5 GHz Wi-Fi and close to the router fixes most of it, verify bandwidth with our speed test.
