Notification overload has three sources: chatty apps, website permissions granted by accident, and missing quiet hours. Ten minutes of setup silences all three for good.
- 1Instant: long-press any annoying notification → 'Turn off notifications' for that app or channel.
- 2Audit: Settings → Notifications → App notifications, sort by 'Most recent' and switch off the spammers.
- 3Browser popups: Chrome → Settings → Site settings → Notifications → remove/block sites (this is the #1 source of 'virus' spam).
- 4Schedule Do Not Disturb: Settings → Sound → DND → add a sleep schedule; allow calls from starred contacts.
- 5Use notification channels: inside an app's notification settings, disable only 'Promotions'/'Suggestions', keep what matters.
Tip: The 'Notification history' toggle (Settings → Notifications) lets you review dismissed alerts, great for finding which app sent that mystery spam.
