System updates bring security patches, bug fixes and new features. Phones typically get 2-5 years of updates depending on the maker.
- 1Connect to Wi-Fi and charge above 50%.
- 2Open Settings → System → System update (Samsung: Software update).
- 3Tap 'Check for updates' and then 'Download and install'.
- 4The phone reboots to apply it; don't power off during the process.
- 5Also update apps: Play Store → profile → 'Update all'.
Tip: No update available? Rollouts are staged by region and model. If your phone is past its support window, it won't receive new Android versions, only Play system updates.
