Motorola's TurboPower fast charging depends on a proper handshake between charger, cable and phone, when any link in that chain is off, the phone can appear to not charge at all rather than just charging slowly.
- 1Swap the cable first: TurboPower needs a cable rated for the higher wattage, an old or damaged USB-C cable will charge slowly or not register at all.
- 2Inspect the USB-C port with a flashlight for lint or debris, this is the single most common cause of 'not charging' on Motos that live in pockets, a wooden toothpick (never metal) can clear it gently.
- 3Try the original Motorola TurboPower adapter if you have one, third-party chargers sometimes fail the negotiation and fall back to slow trickle charging or nothing.
- 4Restart the phone with the cable still plugged in, a stuck charging service occasionally needs a reboot to re-detect the connection.
- 5Run our Charging Speed Test to confirm actual current being drawn, if it shows near-zero mA with the screen off, the port or charging IC is the likely fault rather than a setting.
- 6Boot into Safe Mode and check if charging resumes, a battery-monitoring app with a bug can occasionally block the charging service.
