Warm during games or charging is normal. Hot during light use, or too hot to hold, is not, and sustained heat permanently ages the battery. Here's how to cool things down.
- 1Remove thick cases while gaming or fast charging.
- 2Never charge under a pillow, in direct sun, or on a car dashboard.
- 3Don't game while fast charging, the two heat sources stack.
- 4Find CPU hogs: Settings → Battery, an app burning battery is burning heat.
- 5Update apps and system; runaway processes get patched.
- 6Hot while idle in your pocket? Check GPS/hotspot left on, or a misbehaving app, restart and monitor.
Tip: If the phone overheats during every charge even after these steps, stop using that charger and have the battery inspected, swollen batteries are a safety issue.
