A frozen Realme screen is usually Realme UI hanging on a background process rather than a hardware fault, especially if it happened suddenly during normal use. Realme UI's heavier customization layer over Android means more background services than a near-stock phone, giving more potential culprits.
- 1Force restart: hold Power + Volume Up for 10-15 seconds until the screen goes dark and reboots.
- 2If it freezes again quickly, boot into Safe Mode: hold Power → long-press 'Power off' until 'Reboot to safe mode' appears and confirm.
- 3In Safe Mode, run our Touchscreen Test to check whether all zones of the screen respond, if it's fully responsive here, a third-party app is the cause, not the display.
- 4Check Settings → Additional Settings → App management for a recently installed app you don't recognize, sideloaded APKs are a common freeze source on Realme devices due to less Play Protect scrutiny.
- 5Disable Game Space's background optimization temporarily if you use it, on some Realme models it aggressively locks screen resources during 'gaming mode' detection even outside games.
- 6If freezing persists after a factory reset via Recovery Mode, the touch digitizer or its connector is likely physically damaged.
Tip: A screen protector installed slightly off-center is a surprisingly common cause of 'dead zones' near the edges on Realme's curved-edge models, remove it and retest before assuming a software fault.
