Galaxy phones have a moisture-detection lockout on the USB-C port that stock Android skins don't, and it's the single most common cause of 'plugged in, not charging' reports on Samsung's own forums.
- 1Look for a moisture warning notification or a small water-drop icon, Galaxy phones since the S10/Note10 era block charging entirely if the port sensor detects any moisture, even from humidity.
- 2Dry the port fully (rice does not work well, open air for 30-60 minutes does) and wait, forcing a charge while the warning is active does nothing.
- 3Swap to a different Samsung-rated cable and the original brick, Super Fast Charging (25W/45W) needs a PPS-compatible charger, an off-brand 'fast charger' can silently fall back to trickle or zero charging on some Galaxy models.
- 4Check Settings → Battery and device care → Battery → More battery settings → Charging, confirm 'Fast charging' or 'Super fast charging' is toggled on, it can get switched off during a software update.
- 5Clean the USB-C port with a dry soft brush or toothpick, lint buildup is extremely common and physically blocks the pins from making contact.
- 6Force restart the phone (Power + Volume Down, 10-15 seconds) while plugged in, a hung charging daemon in One UI sometimes shows 0% draw even with a good connection.
- 7Test wireless charging (if supported) as a diagnostic, if wireless works but wired doesn't, the USB-C port or cable is confirmed as the fault, not the battery.
Tip: Run our Charging Speed Test after any fix to confirm you're actually back at rated wattage, not just 'charging slowly', a port with partial pin damage can charge at 5W instead of 25W+ and look fine at a glance.
