Regular drops every few minutes usually mean the phone's power management is killing Wi-Fi, or the router is switching the phone between bands. Both are fixable in settings.
- 1Disable Wi-Fi scanning throttles: Settings → Network → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi preferences → turn off 'Turn on Wi-Fi automatically' style toggles that fight your connection.
- 2Exempt Wi-Fi from battery optimization: Settings → Apps → show system → Wi-Fi/Connectivity services → Battery → Unrestricted.
- 3Forget and re-add the network.
- 4Router with same-name 2.4+5 GHz? Give the bands different names to stop flip-flopping.
- 5Update Android and the router firmware.
- 6Reset network settings as a final phone-side step.
Tip: Drops only in one room = signal edge, not a bug; a repeater or moving the router fixes it. Verify with the speed test in each room.
