Bad GPS is usually a settings/assist-data problem, not a broken chip. High-accuracy mode plus a clear sky fixes most complaints; a live test proves the rest.
- 1Settings → Location: ON, mode 'High accuracy' (uses GPS+Wi-Fi+cell).
- 2Grant 'Precise location' to your map apps (Settings → Apps → Maps → Permissions → Location).
- 3Toggle location off/on; restart the phone.
- 4Test outdoors with our GPS tool: watch accuracy tighten, under 10 m outdoors is healthy.
- 5Calibrate the compass in Google Maps (figure-8 motion) if the arrow points wrong.
- 6Only drifts indoors/underground? That's physics, not a defect.
Tip: Metal cases and magnetic mounts degrade GPS and compass, test once without them before blaming hardware.
