About this test

The gyroscope and accelerometer detect rotation and tilt, they rotate your screen, drive games and stabilize the camera. The compass (magnetometer) reports your heading relative to magnetic north, essential for map apps.

In this tool the level bubble should react smoothly to tilting and the compass should turn as you rotate. Frozen values indicate a faulty or disabled sensor.

Frequently asked questions

My compass points the wrong way. How do I fix it?

Do the figure-8 calibration motion with the phone in the air. Metal objects and magnets nearby also disturb the reading.

Does it work on a computer?

Most computers don't have these sensors. Use your phone for a real test.
